I am really pissed off because I got hooked on this show. Not only was it a good show (I mean, Scott Wolf and Tim Daly on the same show, come on!) but it's a show that reveals a little info each week. So if it gets canceled, the viewers will never know the full story. Think of it as Lost getting canceled after the first season and you not finding out why those people ended up on that island. No explanation - just pulled off the air. I don't get it.

I think it was the timeslot - Wednesdays at 10pm is not a good place to be. The Nine needs an 8pm slot either on Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm sure that new gameshow Show Me The Money can survive in the 10pm timeslot on Wednesday. They freaking gave that gameshow the 8pm timeslot! Get it together, ABC! It's not like the show is crappy...the Nine got great reviews in various magazines and was billed as one of the top 10 best new shows this season in Entertainment Weekly. So give it a chance....I'm pleading with you. Yes, I know you thought that Lost would be a great lead-in but still...10pm is a late hour for some people and after watching Lost, I don't think many people have the heart to watch another similar show right after. Too much thinking at a late hour can cause migranes. LOL!

Ok, I am rambling...this is the second show I have lost this season. I need some coffee and some chocolate. TTFN~

Dare I say it?

This Fall season has thrown me for a loop! Non-reality TV is actually better than reality TV. There...I said it. Now I await the reality TV show gods' angry wrath. :)

Survivor and Amazing Race this season have been okay so far. Survivor has gotten better as of last week with the green bottle twist, where the losing tribe had to read the note in the bottle at Tribal Council, which told them they had to vote a second person out. That was followed with this week's merge. But I am still not at that level of excitement that I usually am where I yell at the contestants on the TV and throw shoes. Oh well, it can't always be great.

Amazing Race is "blech" this season. The winners are predictable and vomit-worthy...I'm sorry but the Blondes make me want to throw up. Nothing personal, girls - this is just TV and you both ain't interesting or watch-worthy.

However, the networks are bursting with great shows this season, new and returning. There's so many shows that I can't keep up. You have Ugly Betty, The Nine, Day Break, Grey's Anatomy, and Six Degrees on ABC. NBC has Heroes, which is hands down, one of the best shows I have ever seen in my life. Fox has Prison Break and of course, my fave show 24, which returns in January. One of my girlfriends swears by Jericho, a new CBS show airing on Wednesday nights. She and her boyfriend tune in religiously every week. My other girlfriend in Toronto loves "How I Met Your Mother" on CBS. It's insane - have we finally gotten to a point on TV where reality TV is going away?

I don't know if I am ready to live without Survivor, Project Runway, Top Chef or Amazing Race but maybe I need to start preparing myself. *sigh*

Anyway, if you haven't checked out any of the shows above, it's not too late. Most networks offer past episodes for download (for FREE). Abc.com offers the last 4 episodes aired and instead of downloading, you can watch the episode of your choice within an internal player on their site. So get to watching, people! :)

ABC:
Ugly Betty, Thursdays, 8e/7c
The Nine, Wednesdays, 10e/9c
Day Break, Wednesdays, 9e/8c
Grey's Anatomy, Thursdays, 9e/8c
Six Degrees, Thursdays, 10e/9c

NBC:
Heroes, Mondays, 9e/8c

Fox:
Prison Break, Mondays, 8e/7c

CBS:
Jericho, Wednesdays, 8e/7c

Big Brother All-Stars: Vote for Monica!

Big Brother is back and we get treated to an All-Star edition this summer. Twenty contestants from the past 6 seasons have been brought back, from which 12 will actually get to go in the BB house. We, the viewers, get to vote in 6 and the producers of the show will pick the other 6. As you can see from the title of this post, all of my votes are going to Monica, who is my absolute favorite BB player ever.

Monica was from Season 2 (the season where Evil Dr. Will won). She made it as far as the final 3 but got evicted when Nicole won the final HOH and chose to take Will over Monica to the final 2. Monica was this sassy black chick who is from Brooklyn and I swear, watching her made me see how I would be if I were on BB. *laugh*

She made the phrase "It's ON!" famous and she kept it real. She made the show interesting and you actually found yourself rooting for her because she wasn't all about backstabbing and lying. She didn't fly under the radar, either. She was just Monica...she told you how she felt and she didn't mince words. In the other words, Homegirl was on fire and I loved it!

I actually had the pleasure of meeting Monica once, about 5 months after Season 2 ended. I saw her at the Alicia Keys concert at Radio City Music Hall. She actually took the time to talk to me for a bit and I have to say, this woman is fabulous.

So please, I plead with you, fellow readers, if you can, swing some votes Monica's way. If she makes it into the house, you will not be disappointed.

Also, there are others out there who are on the Monica bandwagon with me and have written articles about voting for her. Over at Reality News Online, Phil Kural writes that Monica is his favorite BB contestant ever. Here's a link to his article:

Big Brother: All-Stars – Phil’s Plea for Monica

Over at The Trades, Paul Phillips praises Monica as well, in his assessment on who he'd like to see back in the BB house:

Big Brother All-Stars - Episode 01: It's awwwn!

So vote for Monica! Here's the link to vote on the CBS site - just scroll to the bottom (Monica's pic is in the last row) and click on the "Vote for Me" link under her pic:

Big Brother 7 @ CBS.com

Tune in on July 6 to see who gets in the BB house. Big Brother will air at 8pmEST/7C on CBS.

National Treasurers, Hell's Kitchen and more...the summer TV season has begun, Folks!

NBC premiered their version of Amazing Race last Sunday night, called National Treasurers. When I saw the commercial billing it as a cross between Amazing Race and Da Vinci Code, I knew I had to tune in and check it out. *laugh*

So I watched the 2-hour premiere and I'm iffy about it. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't great, either. Here's the premise in a nutshell: 10 teams of 3, all addressed with nicknames they chose for themselves, which is not a good idea. They ended up with names like "The Southie Boys" and "The Geniuses". It's more fun when the viewers issue their own nicknames, in my opinion. Each team is given a cell phone, a laptop on which they can access the internet, and a Visa card (I'm guessing to buy plane tickets with). The product placement here is heavy with Visa, Ask.com, and Motorola constantly being mentioned. I now have this urge to use Ask.com instead of Google and my Visa is burning from all the shopping I have done this week. But I digress...

Now the funny thing here is that (1) most of the time, the teams have no idea where they are going next and have to figure out some clue left for them to get this info and (2) they are constantly interrupted by their cell ringing with video messages from the host. Personally, I would lose my mind by episode 2 and stomp on the cell phone to make it stop ringing. But that's just me. Speaking of the host, it's some intense guy named Laird Macintosh. With a name like that, you would assume he was some dashing debonair guy from Ireland or Australia. Nope, he's from Evanston, Illinois. *laugh* He talks like William Shatner from Star Trek and he kind of stands sideways, I'm guessing, as a way of looking intense. Here, see for yourself - he seems to love his left side profile:

He's no Phil Keoghan but he gets brownie points for taking his job seriously.

The teams are a mess and the strong teams are so blatantly apparent, it's ridiculous. Team Ex-CIA and Team Air Force seem to be the ones to beat, thus far. I'm hoping that this show levels the playing field by taking them internationally and having them deal with plane delays, language barriers and etc. That way even the strong teams will be challenged.

I'm going to hang in there despite the fact that this is airing against Hell's Kitchen (damn you, NBC). My VCR is going to be smoking again this summer.

Speaking of Hell's Kitchen, it is AWESOME this season. Gordon Ramsey is out of control and I LOVE IT. Wow, I didn't think it could get any better and it has. Be still my reality TV loving heart. *sigh*

Well, I'm off to watch Syriana....my Blockbuster online DVDs arrived and I have been dying to see this movie. I also have 16 Blocks and The Family Stone. So reality TV will have to take a break while I catch up on some movies.

National Treasurers airs Mondays at 9pmEST/8c on NBC. Hell's Kitchen is on the same time and day but on FOX. Happy Watching!

Comments on my blog

I may not post on my blog as often as I should (I am busy watching TV and reading tabloids! *laugh*) but I do enjoy reading the comments people leave for me. Just no spam, people! I don't need to buy a house in PA or buy a knock-off Gucci bag. Now if you have a copy of the Project Runway-Season 2 DVD at a great price, then we can talk.

One nice guy named Hughe2030 who, by the way has a great blog about NYC here, left a comment asking me if I had seen Brokeback Mountain. This was in reference to my post on 12/31/05 regarding the movie's, um, blatant title. Well, Hughe2030 dahling, yes, I did see it when it was released on DVD a few months back. I have to say, it was one of the saddest movies I have ever seen - just as sad as Million Dollar Baby (long story which I will leave for another post). I cried like a baby so maybe it was good that I saw it at home and not in the theater. B looked at me as if I were insane (yes, I made him watch it with me and he was not happy...typical straight guy!).

But I loved the movie. I loved it because to me, it wasn't about a gay affair or gay sex. It was about two guys who were drawn to each other and fell in love but couldn't be together because of society. It's sad. And bothered the shit out of me. You can't help who you fall in love with, plain and simple. Heath Ledger impressed the hell out of me in this movie. The man earned props from me big time.

Who knows? Maybe I will bump into him in Brooklyn one day since he and wifey Michelle Williams have settled into domestic bliss there. If I do see him, I will probably babble on and on about how great he was in that movie. So Hughe2030, thanks for the comment/question and keep them coming!

It's almost over *sniff, sniff*

I hate this time of the year. :( First, my fave show Project Runway ends and won't be back until December. Then, other reality TV shows premiere and they are all airing AGAINST EACH OTHER. It drives me insane, especially since I don't have Tivo and only own 1 VCR. I was literally a mess this week...on Monday night, 24 and The Apprentice were on at the same time so I ended up taping 24 and watching The Apprentice on another TV in my house. Tuesday, American Idol ran an extra half hour from 8-9:30pm, which clashed with Amazing Race at 9pm. Then Wednesday, American Idol was on from 8-9:30pm (again!), Lost on at 9pm, and Project Runway at 10pm. Oh boy. I was all TV-ed out and Thursday had not even gotten here yet! Well, on Thursday, Survivor and American Idol were on at the same time. There was no thinking there - I was watching Survivor. To put it nicely, forget American Idol! I can read the message boards to find out who got cut.

So here is the weekend and I am exhausted...from work and TV! LOL! B and I have our weekly rentals from Blockbuster Online and we caught the re-airing of the Project Runway Reunion, which was great. Nick looked fabulous as usual and of course, Santino showed no guilt over the statements he made during the show about the other contestants. However, B and I really think he's going to win. We shall see this week when part 2 of the finale airs.

Flavor of Love is on tomorrow! Can't wait!

Anyway, that's it for now - hope everyone is having a great weekend!

--M

This is a big week, Folks!

This week is going to be a busy one for me, folks. There are 2 shows returning this week, The Apprentice tonight and The Amazing Race tomorrow night. Then we have American Idol on for 3 nights plus the finale of Project Runway on Wednesday night, Survivor on Thursday night and I don't even want to go into what I watch that's non-reality. My VCR is going to be smoking this week! Makes me wish for Tivo but Direct TV refuses to give me a free Tivo box unless I sign a 2-year contract with them. Uh, uh - don't think so. I would think after being a customer of theirs for 2 years that they would be happy to give me a box without any catch. Oh well. But I digress...

Well, Survivor Exile Island has been on for a while...it's turned out to be the Survivor Boy's Club with 4 women consecutively voted out. There's 4 women left and only one of them seems to be playing smart. But I think the chances of a man winning this time around is high. Watch it turn out to be Bobby, the guy who sleeps all day, does no work at camp and announces when he has to take a dump. The guy gets no facetime but I bet he makes it to the end and Survivor fans will be in an uproar. LOL!

My favorite is Cirie...in the first episode, we learned she had leafophobia (fear of leaves) and was considered one of the "older" women despite being in her mid-30's (yes, I am still scratching my head over that one since I am 35 and don't feel old.). She was told in week 2 that she was second in line of being voted off since 4 people on her tribe already forged an alliance. Well, somehow, Cirie is still in it. She has managed to keep her mouth shut, participate well in challenges (despite being about 25 pounds overweight and having at least a DD bust), work hard at camp and she has bided her time well, watching while that alliance of 4 on her tribe slowly dissolves. Her sidebar moments with the camera are hysterical and I just love her attitude. I'm hoping she stays around for a while. She is truly a great player in the game of Survivor.

If you know me, you know I am a Project Runway geek. I love this show more than Survivor, to be honest and that's saying a lot! This season was so much better than last season. The talent was phenomenal, Heidi Klum looked extra cute with her protuding pregnant belly, and there were many designers to root for. I fell in love with Nick Verraros. That's my baby right there. Yes, he's gay but every gay man needs a fabulous straight girlfriend to shop with, have drinks with, chat it up with and just adore. Nick, I want you to be my GBF (gay boyfriend). I actually cried when he got eliminated because I felt he was robbed. But from I hear, he is not sweating it and is doing his thing. He actually went to the Olympics in Torino and was a fashion correspondent for a cable channel, designed a dress for one of the actresses from Desperate Housewives, and his Barbie doll from Project Runway has sold out. I never got one, which I am still bummed about. :(

So, who will win: Chloe, Daniel or Santino??? All I know is, if Santino wins, you will hear my screams all the way in Europe. I think Daniel should win. To sum it up, he is awesome. I guess we will find out when we tune in on Wed night (3/1) at 9pmEST on Bravo. The reunion show will air at 9pm and part 1 of the finale will air at 10pm. Part 2 of the finale will air on March 8.

Another guilty pleasure of mine has turned out to be the show Flavor of Love on VH1. It's like the ghetto version of The Bachelor with Flavor Flav from rap group Public Enemy (who also did Surreal Life and Strange Love on VH1 as well). Flav had 25 women vying for his attention and love. Instead of a rose, he gives them clocks (LOL!) and tells them "You know what time it is!". Oh damn, B and I crack up over this every week. Flav admitted in the beginning of the show that he had a terrible memory so he gave each of the ladies a nickname. When the girl is eliminated, her real name is revealed to the viewers.

He had some crazy girls on this show. One girl, whose nickname was Hottie, was just out there. Flav learned that she was on the show Blind Date and admitted on TV that she was after money so he eliminated her. Another chick that is out there is New York. She actually has made it to the final 2, much to B and I's disbelief. But I have to say, she is entertaining and keeps you watching. She goes on and on about how she loves Flav, how he's a beautiful man and how she is prettier than all the girls there. She flips out when he doesn't pay attention to her or goes with one of the other girls. She talks in a weird way with her eyes closed. The girl has issues. B and I almost want Flav to choose her to see if VH1 will do another show about them! LOL! There was one girl who we thought was perfect for Flav but he eliminated her last week. Her nickname was Goldie and she was so down to earth and had such a great personality. Oh well. Who knows what type of woman Flav is looking for?

Anyway, I have gabbed long enough about reality TV. I need to run and do my research...I am planning to switch cell phone providers and am thinking of switching to Sprint or Cingular. Haven't decided yet so I am going to see what I find online about both companies and their service.

Until next time with remote in hand,
Marcy :)

Brokeback What????

Now with a movie title like Brokeback Mountain, I should have known that something was up with this movie. But I didn't really hear much about the movie until it was nominated for some Golden Globe awards. I chalked it up to another boring time-period drama.

So guess how surprised I was when I learned that this movie is about 2 cowboys that fall in love. Yes, you read right. It's a gay cowboy love story with Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal being those cowboys. So I guess that's why it's called Brokeback Mountain??? Seriously, calling a gay love story "Brokeback" is a dead giveaway but I guess my reality TV watching has thrown me off.

So I want to see this movie, out of sheer curiosity and I have a feeling, I will probably end up loving the movie. Go figure.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Goodbye Fall Season!

Hi Folks - yeah, yeah, yeah. :) I know it's been a while. But it's nice to see that people still find my blog and take the time to write me. It's for you folks that I am back to post. I have been a busy bee, working on some projects in my offline life, trying to make some extra money to fund my dream move to San Diego. I really want to get out there by mid-2006 and am determined to make it happen. As much as I love New York City, I am ready for some sun and a laid-back atmosphere. And I can always move back to NYC, if I want to. Sadly, B will not be moving with me. He's staying in NYC. I have a feeling this is not the end of us but ultimately, he and I have to do what makes ourselves happy. If it is meant to be, it will work out. Plus, I have Jeff Probst and Phil Keoghan to comfort me in San Diego. :)

Well, the fall season was definitely an awesome one in reality TV land. Here's my rundown and two cents on the shows that aired....

Survivor

I don't know if it was the Mayan ruins or the extra bickering and sneakiness but Survivor was awesome, as usual. Even though I had to endure whiny Stephenie all season! Let me not go there. She had this sense of entitlement all season that drove me nuts. Don't get me wrong - I think she was a strong player but she didn't play well this time around and only made it to the final two because everyone knew they could win against her! I thought Gary Hogeboom was awesome. When he found the "secret" immunity idol, I was floored. I also thought Lydia was awesome. People can say all they want about her flying under the radar but I have to disagree. Repeatedly, she came thisclose to being voted out and ended up staying to the final four. Good for her! Cindy was an idiot for not giving up the car. Seriously, did she think she was going to be safe after doing that? Also, had she given up the car and won the million, she would have won a car anyway! Rafe was a great player...total mastermind. He came off as this docile, quiet gay mormon but he was also Stephenie's puppet master. It was great! I look forward to the next season and maybe Mark Burnett will let Gary come back for another season? Well, a girl can dream, can't she?

The Apprentice:

I can only comment on The Donald's show since Martha's show was so boring that I fell asleep after watching the first 10 minutes of it. In my opinion, this was the best season of the Apprentice. Not only did 2 great candidates make it to the end, but Donald really took us for a loop with his multiple firings. Who knew? We learned that if you cry in the boardroom, the Donald will perceive you as not being tough enough to work in NYC (Felisha), if you think you can't work with women (Melissa), you will piss Carolyn off (not good!), if you cannot be managed (Clay), you will piss George off, and if you just keep rambling on and on (Markus) you will drive the Donald crazy. Also, we had the most evilest villian since Omarosa......Alla. And where Omarosa was kind of a psycho, Alla was just plain nasty. She is just not a nice person. And to comment on the finale since it was the talk of the reality TV town, I was surprised Randall didn't OK Donald hiring Rebecca as well. It seems totally out of character for him and a bit selfish in the end. But I think Rebecca will have the last laugh as I last heard she was being offered many job offers including one from Yahoo!. You go, girl!

Amazing Race: The Family Edition (aka Amazing Race meets Family Dysfunction at its worst)

After watching this installment of Amazing Race, I have to ask myself, does God have a vested interest in reality TV? I mean, every time the Weaver family needed help with directions or doing a task, they prayed to God and *poof*, miraculously they found their way or finished the task quickly. They came close to getting eliminated many times but they prayed and *poof* they were saved. Even in one episode, where they got lost and then stopped at a McDonald's to eat since they thought it was over...they got to the mat and Phil tells them that it's a non-elimination round and they're still in the race. I was floored. I think they were as well, standing there with milkshakes and burgers in hand, mouths open. I was starting to think they were going to win but in the end, they came in third and even lost in the extra competition to win a new car. If you're scratching your head over that and asking "What extra comp?", go to http://www.cbs.com/gmc/ and check it out. It seems that after the Linz family won and the other 2 families made it to the mat, Phil announced that the families that came in 2nd and 3rd place (the Bransens and the Weavers) would be competing in one more task where the prize was a new GMC Yukon XL. It was doing some map/icon thing which required the families to run back and forth in the woods to look for game pieces. Poor Wally (the Dad in the Bransen family), he looked exhausted. But in the end, the Bransens won. YAY! And the Weavers will go back to Florida, praying to God, being nasty to people and wondering why no one liked them on Amazing Race. These people need to get a clue!

This was an interesting concept for Amazing Race but without the extensive world traveling, it was just okay but not as captivating as previous seasons. I'm ready to see teams of 2 again. I hear that a new season will premiere in February 2006.

America's Next Top Model

Nik was robbed. I am still shocked that Nicole won. And I think I may be the only viewer around who loves Bre. There were some crazy girls this season: from Jayla (who talked about everyone and made weird evil faces in the confessional/diary room to express her disdain for the other girls) to Lisa (who was just plain out there) to Kim (who I think is the person who really took Bre's cereal bar in London). The most psycho of all was Cassandra. It's just hair, girlfriend. It does grow back. I like that there were more minorities this time around with more interesting looks. My favorite, of course, was Diane. You know, I have to support a fellow plus-size Latina! She was eliminated too early but her spirit got broken too easily. I hope she is successful in whatever she does.

I love Twiggy - she was a breath of fresh air after having to deal with Janice Dickerson, who I thought brought nothing to the show at all. Supposedly, this show is going the route of Survivor and Amazing Race and airing another season in the Spring.

Other shows worthy of a mention...

Biggest Loser: This show really warmed my heart and actually inspired me to get healthy. Suzy, who came in 3rd, really got me because she reminded me of myself. This is a great show that will inspire you to be best you can be and show you that anything is possible. As the theme song "Proud" by Heather Small goes, "What have you done today to make you feel proud?"

Run's House: MTV was losing me there for a minute with all the crappy reality shows they have been airing but when I saw this show, I was back on the MTV train. This is a something like the Osbournes but Reverend Run (from the rap group Run-DMC) doesn't cuss and you can actually understand what he is saying. Also, his family is a little more subdued but not perfect. My favorite is Diggy, Run's 9-yr son who aspires to be a rapper like his daddy.

FOX reality channel reruns: FOX reality network is the best channel to come out since the Food Network. I thought I had hit the lottery and gone to heaven when they began airing Paradise Hotel reruns but now they have begun airing reruns of Forever Eden which was canceled midway through the season. FOX is airing all 24 episodes! They also aired all the episodes of Lost, the show that was on ABC which featured 3 teams of 2 being dropped off in an unknown location and having to race to the Statue of Liberty. They also have been showing reruns of For Love or Money and Joe Millionaire. I don't know if this channel is available on every cable network - I have Direct TV so check it out on channel 250, if you have Direct TV.

Well, folks, we only have to get through the next month and then hopefully, our shows will be back! In the meantime, I will be watching Project Runway on the Bravo channel and Lost on ABC when it returns on Jan 11. 24 will be back in January as well. Yeah! Prison Break won't be back until March (yeah, you should have seen my face when I first heard that news). *sigh* But I am sure I will survive. Have a great day! :)

Rock Star & Other Ramblings

Oh. My. God. Rock Star: INXS was awesome last night!!! I cannot sing the show's praises enough. Last night, the remaining 6 rockers performed with not only the house band backing them but a string orchestra and a choir! They sang songs from the Stones, Paul McCarthy, Pink Floyd, Queen and more. Even INXS looked as if they were having a ball. Last night was the first night it really felt like a show and not a competition.

Also, B and I saw the funniest show last night on VH1 called Race O' Rama. It airs different episodes discussing racial differences in a funny but straight forward way. Last night's episode was called "Dude, Where's My Ghetto Pass?" If you ever grew up in the ghetto, you would laugh so hard. Rapper Lil' Cease has a segment called "Hood-etiquette" - the etiquette of living in the hood. And the funniest thing was they talked about black people who got their ghetto pass revoked and Cuba Gooding, Jr. was one of them. Truly hysterical.

Tonight, one of my guilty pleasures is on...R U The Girl?. It's the new reality show starring the R&B group TLC, who are looking for a girl to perform with them in concert. I love TLC and this show really shows how down-to-earth they are. I love this show so much that I have essentially given up on watching So You Think You Can Dance? since it came on at the same time (also, the show runs 90 minutes and conflicts with Rock Star as well - FOX is ego-tripping if it thinks it can lure viewers from Rock Star, especially on elimination night!). This show is so much better than the Missy Elliott reality show which was kind of horrible and I love Missy so it must have been bad if I am saying that! There's only 4 girls left and at the rate that they are cutting contestants, the show's finale might be next week! So tune in and check it out.

On a side note, I just have to say that I miss Hell's Kitchen terribly. *sigh*

Prison Break

FOX has a great show debuting this fall and it premiered last night...it's called Prison Break.

It has an awesome cast of up and coming actors...Robin Tunney (The Craft, Empire Records, Vertical Limit), Wentworth Miller (Underworld, The Human Stain), Dominic Purcell (who played Dracula in Blade: Trinity), Rockmond Dunbar (from the TV show Soul Food), and the legendary Stacy Keach!

The gist of the show is that Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) is in jail serving a death sentence for killing the Vice President's brother. Lincoln's brother Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) believes his brother is innocent and has been framed. So he gets himself arrested by robbing a bank so he can be convicted and placed in the same jail as Lincoln. His end goal is to break his brother out of jail and clear his name. How will he do that? Well, Mikey is a structural engineer who has the blueprints to the very prison Lincoln is in. The FOX official website says this series is a cross between "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Great Escape" and I have to say, I definitely co-sign on that! Michael has 30 days to save his brother before Lincoln is put to death. Robin Tunney plays Veronica Donovan, a lawyer who used to date Lincoln in high school but left him for college and law school. She also gets suspicious by Michael's actions and start to do some investigating herself on the outside.

FOX is airing an encore of the 2-hour premiere on Thurs, 9/1 at 8pm EST. If you like suspense, action and are a fan of director Bratt Ratner (Rush Hour, Red Dragon, X-Men 3), you will not be disapppointed. Yes, it's not reality TV but this is just as good.

Here's a link to the official site so you can read the synopsis of it:

Prison Break Official Site

Long Time No See!

Yes, I know I have been MIA for a bit. And in my absence, Jaret won on I Want To Be A Hilton (I'm sorry but Jackay was so robbed), we're down to 4 on The Cut (don't get me started there - Liz is still there!!!), Kaysar got evicted not once but TWICE on Big Brother 6 and it looks like one of The Friendship alliance will make it to the final two. *sigh* I pray for Howie and Janelle daily. Also, Rock Star: INXS has been very entertaining. I LOVE Jordis but think MiG will win this. If you are not watching, you must tune in on Tuesdays at 10pm on CBS. This is a Mark Burnett production so you know it's good stuff. It ain't American Idol, let me tell you. If you enjoy rock music, this is a must-see.

Survivor starts in 18 days and if you know me, you know I am a big Survivor fan...I don't answer my phone or door between 8pm - 9pm on Thursdays. Yes, it is that bad. But I am a reality TV fanatic so why would you expect any less?

I also have something to admit something that has caused me to really hang my head in shame...well, sort of. I have gotten hooked on the ABC show Lost. Yes, I know it's not a reality TV show but it is so good. I am a big fan of Stephen King with one of my favorite books being The Stand. Yes, I do read, you know. ;) Anyway, this show really borrows from that book and one of the creators of the show is none other than JJ Abrams who is the genius behind another great show Alias. Even though, ever since Jennifer Garner got involved with Ben Affleck, I cannot bring myself to watch the show. Go figure. Here I go, off on a tangent. Anyway, the Lost: Season 1 DVD comes out on Sept 6 and I will be buying it! ABC has been running the reruns but since the new season starts in 3 1/2 weeks, the episodes have been jumping around a lot and this is the type of show where if you miss a week, you're basically screwed because you will be confused out of your mind. Trust me, I know this (damn you, ABC!!! Your ploy to get me to buy the DVD has worked).

Anyway, that's all for now...I promise to be on more, especially with the Fall season kicking off. I have to admit, I got sucked into the Big Brother live feeds this year. Who knew? I thought I wasn't going to watch - see my 7/1 entry. But the Sovereign 6 alliance changed that.

But this blog will continue...I promise. Hope everyone is having a great day, despite it being Monday. Yuck. B and I are off to the library after work (yes, sooo exciting)...he wants to get some art books and comics and I absolutely need to get the latest Zane book Afterburn. If you don't know who Zane is and if you're a single independent female with no sexual hangups, look her up. You can thank me later. Free your mind, the red pill ain't that bad. ;)

Later, people!

Where do they find these people?

I personally think casting directors on reality shows have their work cut out for them and they sure deliver. This was proved even further on last night's episodes of Trading Spouses: Meet Your New Mommy and I Want To Be A Hilton. Particularly, on the Hilton show where they have assembled the most eclectic group of folks I have seen on a reality show since the first season of Survivor.

You have Ann, an Asian beauty who is a former Miss Tampa and will sing like she is channeling Celine Dion at inappropriate times especially when someone is talking or when she sees Kathy Hilton within earshot. When she started singing Wind Beneath My Wings in the middle of Yvette's babble at the elimination meeting, both B and I laughed so hard that we had stomach pains. Here is Yvette talking to Ms Hilton and trying to save herself and Ann just cuts in with her rendition of Bette Midler's song. Wow. Ann always had a flair for the dramatic with her pageant smile and big hats. She will be missed.

Now Yvette, the other contestant eliminated in last night's episode will NOT be missed by me. Damn, it was 3 weeks too late...she should have been eliminated in week one. Her constant lying, short skirts, and "it's all about me" attitude drove me and Latricia nuts. Speaking of Latricia...love her. Yes, she is a little rough around the edges and not exactly the expert on etiquette but the girl is brutally honest and endearing. You want to root for her because you know that winning this show could dramatically change her life. Now, let's hope the other team starts losing so we can trim the "fat" there as well. There are a few people I'd eliminate just for being too bossy. Why is it people come on this show and immediately want to take over and be the leader? Haven't they learned yet that being a leader or being bossy puts a target on your back? Don't these people watch reality TV before going on a show? It never ceases to amaze me.

Big Brother is BACK! And other ramblings...

CBS announced the new cast of Big Brother 6. The oldest contestant is 36. Whatever. Most of of the chicks look like Barbie dolls. Looks to me like they cast a bunch of actor/actress wannabees. And what is up with them casting firemen named Eric? I don't think this season is going to be anything to get excited about. I'm more excited about Survivor reruns on the Outdoor Life Channel this month!!!

Yes, it's true. The OLN network will begin airing Survivor reruns on July 24, after Lance Armstrong’s final ride in the 2005 Tour de France. God, Season 1 was the best. I can't wait.

If you have Direct TV, OLN is channel 608.

I also read that the Fox Reality Channel picked up Paradise Hotel and will air reruns. Now for some odd reason, I got hooked on that show. I say odd because I usually don't do the dating/hooking up shows. I'd rather eat a bull's testicle than watch The Bachelor or Average Joe. Love and reality TV don't mix in my world. But PH was different. And it aired like 3 times a week for like 5 months. It was very involved. I wonder what happened to Dave and Charla. But I digress...

Back to Big Brother 6...supposedly they are doing another twist this year with their theme this year being "Summer of Secrets". I guess the producers didn't learn their lesson with that horrible twin twist they did last year. *yawn* This year's twist is that the 14 contestants will actually be 7 teams of 2 and each team will think they are the only team in the game. The 14 contestants will live in the house together and contact their team partner, I am assuming, in the diary room (DR to you reality TV watching veterans). As an added stipulation, if one team can keep their secret and end up being the last two people in the house, the winner will win $1,000,000 with the second place finisher winning $250,000. If a team does not make it to the final two, the winner will win $500,000.

I'm going to tune in but there is no guarantees I will keep watching.

Shoot, who am I kidding? I'm a reality TV fanatic, for Christ's sake! ;)

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://realityshowfan.blogspot.com/2005/07/big-brother-is-back-and-other.html' title='Big Brother is BACK! PM Dawn won but I have to say, Shannon and Animotion were great. After hearing Shannon sing "Let The Music Play", I wanted to go out to a club and get my dance on. Gosh, I feel so old.

I hope they bring this show back in the fall. But I pray they change the host. He is just weird. His hair looks as if he sleeps with a hat on and his hands look abnormally long. It's rather distracting.

I checked the website for the London version of this show and they had Shalamar on!!! For those of you who don't know who Shalamar is, they were this R & B/Dance group in the late 70's and 80's which consisted of Howard Hewitt (who is married to Nia Peeples from the TV show version of Fame), Jeffrey Daniels and Jody Watley. Yes, this was Jody's gig prior to going solo. Well, they reunited a few years back and replaced Jody with another female singer. They are one of my fave groups from back in the day. If this show returns for a second season, I am praying they have Shalamar on.

God, I wish I lived in Europe....their reality shows are so much better than ours.

War of the Worlds vs. The Cut

Well, my honey (B, I will call him) and I got to the theater last night to see War of the Worlds and it was sold out! He was tired. I was tired. After looking at the insanely long line for the next showing of War of the Worlds and seeing that our only other feasible movie options were either Mr and Mrs. Smith or Madagascar, we decided to go uptown, eat at Dallas BBQ's on 72nd and Central Park West and then head home. Yes, I was secretly happy because all I could think of was...YAY, I will be home in time to see The Cut.

We got home around 8:20 so I missed the beginning but with reality TV, the good stuff happens in the last 30 minutes usually so I was cool. On The Cut, the task for the 2 teams this week was to create 3 dresses that will be featured in a mock fashion show to which Tommy Hilfiger will judge on which one is the best. One team had a black number that was pretty but I thought was a little boring for runway. But the other team's dress was a pink mess with a horrid looking stole over the shoulder. Ewwww. It was Princess' design but Miss Tommy aka Costume Designer decided that since he knew how to sew and was, in his opinion, the most talented on his team, he took her design and changed it to what HE thought was best. He was such a tyrant. His elimination was so predictable. What was NOT predictable was how Hilfiger zeroed in on Jessica and her lack of involvement in the creative aspect (her sole responsibility was finding the model). I'm glad she spoke up for herself but she should be thanking Shauna for speaking up for her at the Style Forum. Shauna saved your ass, sweetie!!!

And Hilfiger finally ended the show with a cheesy saying that can only sound cool on a reality show:

As they say, cream rises to the top, and this week, I see some cream.

LOL!!!! I am still laughing over that one. Well, the man is trying. I give him props for that. But he still ain't The Donald.

Thursday's TV checklist

Well, it's Thursday and in reality TV land, signals the end of the TV viewing week.

Hmmmm, what's on tonight? The Cut is on at 8pm. Must see. Tommy Hilfiger is a little dry but the contestants make up for that.

Oh, how could I forget my guilty pleasure which is on tonight at 9pm? Hit Me Baby One More Time! Oh. My. God. I checked the official NBC site and they have some good acts performing tonight. Remember PM Dawn? Juice Newton? Animotion? And for you clubheads, Shannon is performing her hit "Let The Music Play". You know, there will be a party in my living room tonight, even though my live-in honey claims he can't dance.

And Being Bobby Brown premieres tonight on Bravo at 10pm. I have to watch it. It's like a car wreck on the highway. You don't want to look but can't help yourself and look anyway. I just hope it is not like Britney Spear's Chaotic. *gag*

My honey wants to see War of the Worlds tonight after work. There's a showing at 5:30pm but don't know if we will make that and get home in time to see The Cut. Darn. Why did that freaking movie have to be almost 2 hours long??? Spielberg, you're messing with my reality tv watching.

Decisions, decisions. Happy watching, people! --M
